‘Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures throughout all generations…’ Psalm 145:13
You know I can’t resist a song with a strong bass beat, right? ‘Can’t Be Moved,’ is the seventh track from Jeremy Camps’ album, I Will Follow.
There are very few things in life that are set in stone. There are plenty of times we try to build security in our lives through careers, friends, family, or wealth, but the truth is that these things are ‘Gonna Fade.’ Sickness is just one example of many things that can bring any of these strongholds tumbling to the ground. Sure your career might seem stable, but what would happen in your boss were embezzling? Your friends might are loyal and kind, but time and distance might silence a bond, if not end it when a sudden move comes.
So, what are we to do? Cling to something that is immovable! ‘Can’t Be Moved’ reminds us that the Lord’s coming kingdom is a fixed fact. The time or place may not be known, but God’s word is final. Where else can we find such security?
Building security in this life means living for Jesus now. There is no other way to be sure of what our future holds other than to live for Christ in obedience. Not only will we find protection from sin in this life, but this building of stability will give us an eternal home as well. This is knowledge that should bring great comfort to you if you find yourself struggling in a sin you know too well, or if it seems Jesus’s victory is too far away. I pray you embrace God’s Immovable kingdom today, and live for Jesus! – Timothy
